My opinion

Well shaelynn's blog was very informative on the assimilation for indians. It had useful information that I could use for my blog for example the haircuts that male indians should have. I did understand her blog perfectly.

Jonathan garcia's blog post about Indians was kind of depressing starting with its title "the lifeless road of indians". It looks depressing and sad but it kind of the truth because the struggle alot to get a life.

I find irelis essay very informative and with Alot of details. She talks about life as indians during assimilation and giving up their land to survive.

Juan's essay about indian extermination talks about how the white americans tty to extinguish indian race. Cruel?yeah but its the truth and juan did a great job informing readers about this situation.

Carolina also tell about life of the indians how bad it went to them. She was informative with the events and date.

Indians during assimilation

Assimilation for the Indians began in  the 1800s. The American goverment encourage Native Americans to assimilate their culture or if not they were enemies. The Indian stereotype need to be change because according the white Americans they were savages and hostil. Still the truth is that they were the contrary, but the white Americans wanted power. So the Indians needed to establish to the American life, religion, language, stereotype and jobs to have benefits.

First step for assimilation was that the Indians need forget about their own culture, religion, and to have a christian name. In school, indian children were to go and if not they were kidnapped. Kids were taught to hate Indian related stuff. Indian people were to follow Protestant religion and attend school. If they practiced their Indian religion they were punished or persecuted. A good example would be Charles Eastman.

Second would be the Clothing for the Indians during assimilation. The Indian Clothe was different from the Americans obviously, it was more wild and free type of clothing. The American clothing was more like European, if you had money then you were dress elegant and it all depends on your job also. So Indian women wore dresses and male wear poor clothes.

Third would be jobs that Indians had. Well maybe not all had jobs or important jobs. Also many didnt finish college. The kind of jobs that Indians had were maybe farming or helpers in stored. Many didnt work because of the welfare that goverment gave. Also, alcoholism destroyed their lives to keep going in ssearch of some better future.

Assimilitation for the Indians had to follow strict rules to survive in American colonies. Indians have totally change their lifestyles to be accepted in another new society and have a home most importantly. In addition, the alcohol was the destroyer of the life of Indians.
